So this week saw the contestants dance either a Salsa or Foxtrot as Strictly Come Dancing returns to its normal Saturday and Sunday night format with sequins, sparkles and feathers galore and even a cameo from a glittery umbrella.

Performances on the whole showed a marked improvement from last weeks show, with Robbie Savage and his partner Ola adding a whopping 10 points to their previous score.

Jason Donovan and his partner Kristina were once again top of the leader board, thanks to their foxy foxtrot wooing the judges into giving them 33 points, keeping them firm favourites to go far in this show.

Nancy Dell’Olio and Anton Du Beck were stuck rock bottom of the leader board once again, even after Nancy tried to impress the judges by climbing over their desk at the start of her dance into the arms of Anton, with just 14 points from the judges.

Russell Grant kept up his ‘love of life’ attitude to the show with a Salsa danced to no other than Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ leading judge Len Goodman to tell him he put ‘the boy back into flamboyant’ and leaving all watching with a smile on their face.

This weekend also saw former MP Edwina Curry and her partner Vincent Simone become the first couple to leave the show.

After finding themselves in the bottom two alongside Audley Harrison and his partner Natalie Lowe, the judge’s scores, combined with the public votes, proved too low to save Edwina from the chop.

Harry Judd, Holly Valance and Jason Donovan are still the three favourites to win the show, but with a Broadway theme planned for next weekend I am looking forward to seeing former West End stars Anita Dobson and Jason Donovan fair in comparison to the non theatre trained celebrities.

As it is set to be another show full of flamboyance, glamour and feathers, am I the only one thinking this will be the week the Russell Grant shines the most?

Strictly is back on this Saturday BBC1 at 6.25pm with all 13 remaining couples taking to the floor hoping to dazzle in their Broadway inspired routines.

The results show will be aired Sunday at 7.25pm with another couple leaving the show.
