Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Gray will guest judge on Strictly Come Dancing on 5th November, filling in for full-time judge Len Goodman.

Goodman is taking a brief break from the show, meaning that Gray – who won Dancing With the Stars in America last year – will step in to cast her views on the 2011 contestants.

Looking ahead to the opportunity, she said: “I’m delighted to be involved and can’t wait to see what the contestants have got.”

“I so look forward to the pilgrimage to the birthplace of the greatest dance show – the mecca of spray tans and tangos – and sit in for the great and pernickety Len Goodman.”

An insider has also spoken of the move to bring in Gray, saying: “Jennifer dazzled everyone on Dancing With The Stars. She’ll be a sure-fire hit dancing on Strictly.”

The 51-year-old will now take her place alongside Alesha Dixon, Craig Revel Hoorwood and Bruno Tonioli for a one-off weekend. She is also expected to perform herself at some point during the weekend.

Elsewhere in Strictly Come Dancing news ahead of this weekend, Holly Valance has revealed that her boyfriend is very much enjoying watching her on the show this year.

Holly’s recent routine was particularly raunchy and she admits it went down well at home.

She revealed: “He did ask if I could bring the wig home, put it that way.”

The Australian actress went on to speak about her training routine with dance partner Artem Chigvintsev.

She continued: “It’s funny because during the week you’re sort of cursing because we’re doing about eight hours a day.”

“Artem is a very passionate teacher – is the best way of putting it. And then Saturday night makes it all worth it because you just get such a thrill out of doing the show and you think “Yeah, I’m really rock and roll.”

“And then Monday morning hits and you go ‘Oh my God, I don’t know what I’m doing’ again.’ The expectation is massive – I don’t know if we’ll do it but we’ll have a good go.'”

The next show is on Saturday evening, with Nancy Dell’Olio the favourite to be given the boot.
