Strictly Come Dancing contestant Alex Jones has spoken of her determination to win the show for Wales.

The Welsh TV presenter is one of the five semi-finalists this weekend who will be hoping that they don’t leave the show this evening.

Speaking about her ambitions, she said: “For me it will be great to get to the final but the only reason is because James has been an absolute star.”

“He’s worked so hard with me and also we have had such a laugh doing it. It would just mean we would be able to enjoy the whole competition in its entirety.”

“Of course getting to the final would be the icing on the cake. I never set out to win it because there are some amazing dancers in the competition who, frankly, deserve that at the end of the day.”

“It has been a fantastic experience and I will miss it the week after next week.”

“The support has been amazing – the same as when I got the One Show job. The support from Wales has been overwhelming.”

“Russell, Robbie and I really felt it and it gave us an extra push and being the only Welsh girl in the competition, I want to do Wales proud.”

Despite this determination to get to the final, Jones Australian star Holly Valance were in the bottom two last night and will leave this evening unless they are saved by the public vote.

Leading the way on semi-final night was McFly drummer Harry Judd who received a near perfect score of 39 from the judges.

Chelsee Healy and Jason Donovan were both impressive too though, so they too will hope they have done enough.

The results show this evening – where two contestants are set to leave – is bound to be an emotion occasion.
