Alesha Dixon has quit her role as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, fueling rumours that she has signed a contract with Britain’s Got Talent.

The singer and former Champion of the show has been on the judging panel for three years, but has decided to call end her time on the BBC One show.

In a statement, she said: “After three incredible years on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel I have decided that it is time to move on.”

“Strictly Come Dancing will always hold a special place in my heart as it has been such an amazing experience, both as a winning competitor and as a judge.”

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in the show, the production team, my fellow judges, and a very special thank you to the fans for their support.”

“Music is my great passion and the reason for the other incredible opportunities that have come my way and I am looking forward to getting back into the studio and focusing on making a new record in 2012.”

As for what Alesha will do next, it is perhaps no coincidence that Simon Cowell is set to name who will be the latest female judge on Britain’s Got Talent soon.

Whether Alesha will make the move remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that she will be a busy woman in 2012.

As for the BBC, they have said that they will announce Alesha’s replacement in the Spring and that they ‘wish her well for the future.’

It remains to be seen whether there is more behind Alesha leaving the show that meets the eye, perhaps more will be revealed in future weeks.
