After the shock dismissal of Frankie Cocozza from the X Factor yesterday, rumours are continuing the grow about The Risk returning.

To recap, the 18-year-old was axed from the show for breaking one of the competition’s golden rules.

A statement from Frankie read: “I’d like to apologise to Gary, my fellow contestants and everyone who has voted for me, but, as of today, I will no longer be in The X Factor.”

“My life during the show has gone out of control and my behaviour off stage has over-stepped the rules of the competition.”

“I no longer deserve my place in the show, so I am therefore leaving. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me.”

It has since been revealed that Frankie’s omission was related to drug use, something X Factor bosses refused to tolerate.

As for where this leaves the show, there are now only six acts remaining, meaning that an act could return to make up the numbers.

If this does happen, The Risk are the favourites to return after they were kicked off of last weekend’s show for receiving the fewest public votes.

With regards to Frankie, it has been revealed that he will rest for a couple of weeks before hopefully returning to music and making a go at a successful career.

His mentor Gary Barlow said: “I’m hugely disappointed that he’s thrown away an opportunity like this after working so hard to get here.”

“I’m sorry to see him go as we’ve been through a lot together in such a short time.”

“I hope Frankie continues to look to me as a friend and supporter and works it all out, picks himself up and somehow tries to turn this into a positive.”

Yet again this is a story that has got the public talking this week and it should be a fascinating live show on Saturday evening.
