After being sent home from the X Factor last night, Craig Colton has said that song choice influences the public votes.

The 22-year-old – who received the fewest public votes and was sent home after the judges failed to reach a decision – says that the public’s connection with songs makes a big difference.

On movie night, Craig performed Licence To Kill from James Bond, something which received criticism from judges Louis Walsh and Tulisa.

Speaking on Lorraine this morning, he said: “It’s all about song choice now, I hope the other contestants learn from this as well.”

“I really liked the song and I’ve listened to it back and I actually quite liked the vocal. I think it was one of my best vocals as well – but it is down to song and people’s connections with songs as well.”

As for what he plans to do now, he admits that it might be a struggle to forge a pop career, but is determined to stay in music.

He continued: “We’ll see what happens. I’m not holding my hopes up too high, but I just want to have fun and I want to make music, that’s the thing.”

The Liverpool lad then described Little Mix as the ‘new front runners’ to win the show after they stole the show on Saturday evening.

The girlband are Tulisa’s only remaining act, but produced a thrilling performance on movie night. Kelly Rowland even said they could be the best UK girl group of all time.

The X Factor betting market’s certainly suggests that they have a chance too. They are now second favourites to win the show at 9/4, just behind Marcus Collins who is the 2/1 favourite.

The remaining five acts will be performing two songs each next week as the competition reaches the business end.

One thing is for sure, either Marcus, Little Mix, Janet, Amelia or Misha B will win the X Factor!
