Simon Cowell may be the mastermind behind both shows, but he has revealed this week that he would like the Britain’s Got Talent winner to be even better than that of the X Factor.

Cowell – who returns to the judging panel for BGT this month – believes that the show can produce an act that achieves success all over the world.

He said: “Even though they are both my shows, I would like to find a better winner on Britain’s Got Talent than The X Factor.”

“I’d like to find the next *N Sync, Justin Bieber, or Backstreet Boys. I’ve always dreamed about finding a dog who can play guitar and we’ve failed.”

“I came back because, most importantly, I want to change the perception of the show. There’s a notion that all we want is older people who can sing opera.”

“I don’t mind that but this show is open for people that can’t just sing. It could be a new young comedian, or something we’ve seen on YouTube. I don’t know but you want someone who can be a star all over the world.”

Cowell also believes that the fact the Olympics are in London this year means that all eyes are on England in 2012.

He continued: “Britain is going to be in the world’s spotlight and I want this show to be back in the world’s spotlight.”

As for who will be lining up alongside Simon on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel, this will be Alesha Dixon – who quit Strictly Come Dancing this week – and David Walliams.

Amanda Holden will remain on the show too and she has already tweeted her excitement about the new line-up.

She said: “Thrilled I can finally comment!Love the new line-up of BGT! I plan to have a lot of fun and get an ally in the gorgeous Alesha!”
