In news that could shock the new X Factor judging panel, it has been revealed that Cheryl Cole could return to the show this year as a guest judge and even replace Tulisa Contostavlos.

Cole was set to be a judge on the American X Factor this year and left the UK show as a result. However, it didn’t work out for the Girls Aloud singer across the pond and she was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger on the show.

Now though, she could be set to do exactly the same thing to new UK X Factor judge Tulisa after settling her differences with the brains behind the show Simon Cowell.

An insider told Heat Magazine: “There have been several conference calls and ideas have been discussed. Both Simon and Cheryl are aware that such a return would be huge for the ratings. It would be a massive story. Simon isn’t afraid of making headline-grabbing changes to the show.”

“The panel have been finding their feet slowly. But it’s no secret that Cheryl was Simon’s golden girl. If she came back, it would be with a huge fanfare.”

“Of course, if they announced that Cheryl was coming back, there would be immediate worries that she would be replacing someone.”

This story is of course in the early stages, but it would certainly be a massive story if Cheryl was to return to the show. We will have to wait and see how this one pans out.

Elsewhere on the UK X Factor, the auditions will reach the final stages on our TV screens this weekend ahead of Boot Camp. There is a double bill of action this weekend, so at least you know what you are doing Saturday and Sunday night!

Betting wise, there are already some markets open for people to win the entire show. Janet Devlin – who wowed the judges with her version of Elton John’s Your Song – is the front runner, followed by Amelia Lilly and Jade Richards.
